About Albany Law School
Albany Law School is a private, independent law school in Albany, New York, founded in 1851. It is accredited by the American Bar Association and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It has an affiliation agreement with the University at Albany that includes shared programs and access for students and faculty. The school is also associated with Union University, a loose federation in which each member institution has its own governing board and operates independently.
The school offers a Juris Doctor program, along with LL.M. and M.S. degrees and a range of joint degrees with other institutions, including the University at Albany and Albany Medical College. Its concentrations cover fields such as environmental, health care, intellectual property, international and tax law. Its Government Law Center is described as a nonpartisan center focused on governmental issues, and the school runs a public-interest law firm in which supervised students represent clients. The campus shares a 54-acre site with three other colleges, a short walk from the New York State capitol complex in downtown Albany.
