Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, known as CIBC, is a Canadian multinational banking and financial services corporation with its headquarters in Toronto. It came into being in 1961 when two Ontario-based banks combined. Today the group runs its operations through three divisions covering retail and business banking, wealth management, and capital markets. Its shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CM.

In New York State, the CIBC New York Branch is licensed and supervised by the New York State Department of Financial Services and has a street address at 300 Madison Avenue. A US subsidiary, CIBC World Markets Corp., holds membership in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. The same Madison Avenue building houses a commercial banking center and a private wealth office. Legal process directed to the New York branch's legal department is handled at that address as well.
