About Catholic Migration Services

Catholic Migration Services is a not-for-profit legal services provider that offers free immigration, housing and employment legal services, tenant organizing and community legal education to low-income New Yorkers. It is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and with Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens. The organization was founded in 1971 by the Diocese of Brooklyn as its immigration services arm, and it serves people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin or immigration status.

Its Immigration Unit handles matters such as naturalization, green cards, asylum, humanitarian relief, DACA, TPS, T and U visas and deportation defense, with work done by attorneys and DOJ-accredited representatives. Its Housing unit includes the Immigrant Tenant Advocacy Program, and its Employment unit, the Immigrant Workers' Rights Program, advises low-wage workers on wage, hour and workplace disputes. Eligibility for many services is limited to low-income residents of Brooklyn and Queens. In New York State, the organization has offices in Brooklyn and in Sunnyside, Queens.
