About CUNY Citizenship Now!
CUNY Citizenship Now! is an immigration assistance initiative of the City University of New York, with centers on CUNY campuses. It has provided free citizenship and immigration help since 1997. Staff with legal training review whether applicants meet eligibility requirements, then help with forms and filings. The program states that its help does not constitute legal advice and does not create an ongoing attorney-client relationship.
Listed case types include naturalization, family-based petitions, DACA, and TPS, along with certificates of citizenship, document renewal, fee waiver requests, and FOIA requests. Employment-based visa and status matters are outside what the program handles. Residents of New York may use the services without an income limit, though CUNY students receive priority. Centers operate at several CUNY campuses and at New York City Council district offices in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. Appointments can be requested by calling 646-664-9400 or texting 929-334-3784.
