The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) is a public benefit corporation of New York State, created in 1944 under a law signed by Governor Thomas Dewey. It may finance, design, construct or rehabilitate facilities for public and not-for-profit entities, including higher education, health care, mental health and court facilities. A board sets its policies and approves each financing, and a president appointed by that board manages daily operations.

DASNY's work centers on public finance and construction. Its finance function raises capital in the markets for its clients and oversees bond issuance, while its construction office provides design and building services, with project staff acting as an owner's representative on budgets, bids and contracts. The authority reports about 500 staff across four main offices in Albany, New York City, Rochester and Buffalo, plus roughly 50 field sites statewide. It also works to ensure participation by minority-, women- and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses in construction projects.
