About Dutchess County District Attorney's Office
The Dutchess County District Attorney's Office is the public prosecutor for Dutchess County, New York. The elected district attorney prosecutes or otherwise resolves all crimes committed in the county, including those in state institutions and correctional facilities, acting for the People of the State of New York. The office also has an investigations division led by a chief investigator, and it works with law enforcement, witnesses and victims.
Its specialized units include an Appeals Unit that handles post-conviction litigation at state and federal levels and processes Freedom of Information Law requests; a Violent Crimes and Dangerous Drugs Unit for major felonies and serious drug cases; a Special Victims Unit covering sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and elder abuse; a Financial Crimes Unit for white-collar offenses; a Vehicular Crimes Unit; a Justice Courts Unit for lower-court prosecutions in city, town and village courts; a Conviction Integrity Unit; and a Hate Crimes Unit.
