About Earthjustice

Earthjustice is a nonprofit public interest organization that litigates environmental matters. It was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and it is organized as a 501(c)(3). Because it is a nonprofit, its legal services are provided free of charge to its clients. Its attorneys bring cases in federal and state courts, and its work covers protecting public health, safeguarding wilderness and wildlife, and advancing clean energy.

The organization runs regional offices across the United States, along with a Washington, D.C. policy and legislation team and an international program that works with partners abroad. Its New York presence is the Northeast Office in New York City, established in 2008, which focuses on environmental justice and civil rights, clean water, opposition to fossil fuel and coal development, and the shift to clean energy. The New York office also serves as headquarters for the organization's sustainable food and farming and toxics exposure and health programs.
