About Erie County Court
Erie County Court is one of the County Courts of the New York State Unified Court System, based in Buffalo. Outside New York City, the state's counties each host a County Court. Among the trial courts, felony trials belong to this tier alone. Its civil jurisdiction is limited, with authority over claims up to $25,000. Misdemeanors and lesser offenses can also be tried in City Courts, and Town and Village courts.
The court sits at 25 Delaware Avenue Buffalo, NY 14202, and its posted hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. The Eighth Judicial District is responsible for the trial courts in Erie and seven other western New York counties. That district also includes the Supreme, County, Family and Surrogate Courts in those eight counties. Judges are assigned to numbered parts on several floors of the Erie County Court Building.
