About Everytown Law
Everytown Law is a nonprofit litigation group focused on gun violence prevention in the courts and within the civil and criminal justice systems. The group describes itself as the litigation arm of the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund. Its attorneys represent people wounded in shootings and the families of those killed, and they file civil suits against firearms manufacturers, distributors, and dealers. The group reports multi-million-dollar settlements in several of these cases, including settlements arising from the 2022 Buffalo mass shooting.
A second function is defending gun safety laws. Through the Everytown Center for the Defense of Gun Safety, the group helps state and local governments and attorneys general defend such laws against Second Amendment challenges, and its attorneys offer this help on a pro bono basis. Its matters reach federal and state courts in more than 20 states and the District of Columbia. New York-related work includes litigation over the Concealed Carry Improvement Act and the Buffalo shooting cases. The sources reviewed do not list office addresses in New York State.
