Her Justice

About Her Justice

Her Justice is a nonprofit that provides free legal help to women and gender-diverse people living in poverty in New York City. It was founded in 1993 under the name Network for Women's Services and recruits, trains and mentors volunteer lawyers who represent clients who could not otherwise pay for a lawyer. Its staff attorneys support those volunteers throughout their cases, and the organization also pursues policy reform aimed at a fairer civil justice system.

Its legal work centers on family, matrimonial and immigration law, including child support, custody, orders of protection, divorce, and immigration remedies under the Violence Against Women Act. The organization also provides legal information, advice and brief services, and it handles coerced debt matters connected to family cases. Its main office is at 100 Broadway in Manhattan, and third-party directories list family justice center locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Kew Gardens in Queens.
