About International Institute of Buffalo
The International Institute of Buffalo is a nonprofit that has served foreign-born people in Western New York since 1918. Its work also includes refugee resettlement and integration support, job training, interpreting and translation, and global education programs. Its legal team began in 2021 to address the need for representation of Afghan and Ukrainian arrivals and has since widened its humanitarian immigration work.
The legal unit concentrates on affirmative filings with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. Department of State, covering matters such as green cards, naturalization, employment authorization, asylum, family-based petitions, and Temporary Protected Status. Staff also represent non-detained clients in immigration court. The organization runs a monthly walk-in legal clinic and trains pro bono attorneys who take on immigration cases. Its Buffalo address is listed as 864 Delaware Avenue.
