About International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit humanitarian organization headquartered in New York City. It responds to humanitarian crises worldwide, providing emergency relief and longer-term assistance to people affected by conflict and disaster. The organization states that it works in more than 40 countries and in 30 U.S. cities. Its stated focus areas include health care, education, child protection, and economic wellbeing, with particular attention to women and girls.

In the United States, the IRC helps refugees and other newcomers resettle, with services such as case management, English classes, and help finding work. It offers immigration legal services and citizenship assistance in a number of U.S. cities. In New York State, the IRC has an office at 263 West 38th Street in New York City that serves refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants, and its headquarters is at 122 East 42nd Street. The New York office reported supporting more than 3,000 people in a recent year.
