About Kings County Supreme Court

The Kings County Supreme Court is a trial-level court in Brooklyn that operates as part of New York State's Unified Court System, with separate terms at different addresses. Its Civil Term hears cases outside the authority of lower courts, including higher-value civil matters and divorce, separation, and annulment proceedings. It also handles other non-criminal matters such as name changes, foreclosures, mental hygiene applications, and elder law cases. The Criminal Term, at 320 Jay Street, prosecutes felony cases and operates specialty courts.

The Civil Term is located at 360 Adams Street in downtown Brooklyn and keeps weekday hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its Help Center, in Room 123, assists people who do not have a lawyer with sample forms and procedural guidance. The Kings County Clerk's Office, which also serves as Clerk of Supreme Court, is housed in the same building. The Criminal Term became one of the first criminal courts to launch NYSCEF electronic filing, on September 8, 2025. All listed locations are in Brooklyn, within the 2nd Judicial District.
