About Maimonides Medical Center
Maimonides Medical Center is a non-profit, non-sectarian hospital in the Borough Park area of Brooklyn, New York. It is one of three hospitals in the Maimonides Health system, alongside Maimonides Children's Hospital and Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital. The institution traces its origins to a dispensary opened in 1911 by a group of women serving the needy in their Brooklyn neighborhood. It functions as a teaching hospital with 711 beds and more than 70 primary care and sub-specialty programs, and a 2013 affiliation made it the Brooklyn campus of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
The website lists services in cardiac and vascular care, cancer treatment, neurosciences, orthopedics, women's health, and pediatric care. Its emergency department carries Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma center designations. All sites are in Brooklyn: the main campus on Tenth Avenue, Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, a pavilion in the Clinton Hill area, and an emergency room in Bay Ridge. The site describes offices throughout the borough.
