About Major League Soccer
Major League Soccer (MLS) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States and Canada, comprising 30 clubs. It is organized as a single-entity structure: the league's corporate owner, Major League Soccer, LLC, holds the teams and player contracts, and each club has an investor-operator who holds a share in that company. The league's first season was played in 1996.
Its activities include running the regular season and MLS Cup playoffs, arranging media rights such as the MLS Season Pass streaming service, administering team expansion and player transfers, and supporting partnerships. Its global headquarters moved in May 2026 to 2 Penn Plaza in Midtown Manhattan, a 126,000-square-foot office that also houses its Matchday Center Operations Hub. The official site lists a New York office and the phone number (212) 450-1200.
