About National Domestic Workers Alliance
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is a nonprofit advocacy organization, founded in 2007, that works to win respect, recognition and labor rights for domestic workers in the United States, including nannies, housecleaners and home care workers. It describes itself as both a national federation of affiliate grassroots organizations and a national membership organization. Its work includes organizing, policy development, legislative advocacy and worker education, and it has supported Domestic Workers Bill of Rights measures at the state and local level.
In New York, the organization's NY chapter provides know-your-rights trainings, leadership and workforce development programs, and support for domestic workers seeking to recover stolen wages. The chapter also houses the We Dream in Black chapter, which develops the leadership of Black domestic workers. The main office is at 45 Broadway in New York City. Its website also lists offices in Washington, DC, Durham, North Carolina, Chicago, Illinois, Oakland, California, and Atlanta, Georgia.
