About New York City Department of Design and Construction
The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is a municipal agency that acts as the City's main capital construction project manager. It designs, renovates and builds civic facilities such as firehouses, libraries, police precincts, courthouses and senior centers, and it has delivered projects since 1996. The agency also designs and improves infrastructure, including roadway, sewer and water main work, sidewalks, street reconstruction and pedestrian ramps in all five boroughs.
DDC's Public Buildings Division manages the design and construction of civic buildings used for public safety, libraries, cultural institutions, and health and human services. Its Design and Construction Excellence program sets quality and innovation expectations for architecture, engineering and project delivery, and the agency works with architects, engineers, contractors and consultants on its projects. DDC also sets minority- and women-owned business participation goals for its design and construction procurements. Its main office is at 30-30 Thomson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens.
