About New York State Energy Research and Development Authority
Created in 1975, NYSERDA is a public benefit corporation of the State of New York that works on energy efficiency and renewable power. Its objectives include curbing greenhouse gas output, fueling economic growth, and raising residents' quality of life. A 13-member Board oversees the organization, and the president and chief executive reports to that board.
Through objective analysis, technical expertise, and assistance programs, the Authority helps people trim energy bills and rely less on fossil fuels. It also coordinates NY Grid CONNECT, a platform that brings stakeholders together on grid resilience, flexibility, and storage. Offices are in Albany, Buffalo, New York City, and West Valley; the West Valley office handles decommissioning and long-term care at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center.
