The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is a state government agency that oversees the public mental health system, which it says serves nearly 800,000 people each year. It operates 23 psychiatric centers, oversees the Nathan S. Kline Institute and New York Psychiatric Institute, and regulates and certifies more than 6,500 programs run by local governments and nonprofit agencies. Its stated mission is to promote the mental health of all New Yorkers, with a particular focus on adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances.

Its functions include setting state mental health policy, licensing and inspecting programs, and running psychiatric and forensic services. Its Customer Relations office takes questions and complaints about mental health services, and the website directs people in emotional crisis to the 988 line. The Central Office is at 44 Holland Avenue in Albany. The agency also lists a Syracuse field office, a New York City field office, and the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy among its New York locations.
