About New York Stock Exchange
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is a stock exchange headquartered at the New York Stock Exchange Building in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City. Intercontinental Exchange, an Atlanta-based holding company, owns it. The exchange gives buyers and sellers a venue for trading shares of companies registered for public trading, and it operates within NYSE Group, which runs several equities markets, options exchanges and a corporate bond platform.
The NYSE's official site presents its equities markets, which run on the proprietary NYSE Pillar trading platform and include a trading floor and designated market makers. It also sells proprietary market data to institutional, retail and academic users, and produces original financial programming. The exchange's New York presence centers on its Wall Street building, and NYSE Group includes NYSE Texas, which is headquartered in Dallas. It is a securities exchange, not a law firm.
