About NYC DOC Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is a municipal government agency that provides for the care and custody of people held by the courts while awaiting trial, or sentenced to one year or less of jail time. Ten of its 14 jail facilities are on Rikers Island, and the agency also operates prison wards in two city hospitals and court holding facilities in each borough. The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) is an internal unit of DOC that investigates employee discrimination and harassment complaints and processes requests for reasonable accommodation.
The EEO Office also works to prevent discrimination through outreach, education and training, and it receives conflict resolution referrals. Its stated mission includes promoting a diversity and inclusion program and providing prompt, fair review of discrimination complaints. The office is located at the Bulova Corporate Center, 75-20 Astoria Boulevard, in East Elmhurst, Queens. DOC staff also facilitate programming, support court operations and investigate crimes.
