About Orange County District Attorney's Office

The Orange County District Attorney's Office is a county government prosecution office located in Goshen, New York. The District Attorney is an independently elected official whose powers and duties are set out in the New York State County Law. The office represents the People of the State of New York and has authority to investigate and prosecute offenses in Orange County. For most traffic infractions and violations of municipal ordinances, prosecution authority is deferred to municipal attorneys and police officers. The office employs about 45 Assistant District Attorneys.

The office is organized into several specialized prosecution units and runs crime reduction, community affairs and immigrant affairs programs. Its work includes combating fraud and white-collar crime through a multi-agency task force. District attorney investigators are on call at all times. The main office is at 255-275 Main Street in Goshen, and the website also lists a Newburgh office at 145 Broadway.
