About Pace Women's Justice Center

Pace Women's Justice Center is a nonprofit legal center housed at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, operating under the university's 501(c)(3) status. It provides free legal services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse. It serves victims and survivors in Westchester and Putnam Counties. Its staff consists of attorneys and paralegals focused on civil family law, supported by pro-bono attorneys, volunteers, and law students.

The center's civil legal work includes orders of protection, child custody and support, divorce, spousal support, powers of attorney, and other adult planning documents. Assistance is offered through a walk-in legal clinic on the Pace law campus in White Plains, a legal helpline, and a Family Court Legal Program with attorneys in New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers Family Courts. Its Moderate Means program connects qualified individuals with experienced, private attorneys who offer reduced-fee services to low- and middle-income individuals. The center also trains judges, police officers and attorneys on abuse cases. It was founded in 1991 as the Battered Women's Justice Center and was renamed in 1998.
