About Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports sexual and reproductive health care and education in the United States and internationally. It does not run most health centers itself. Instead, it supports independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates, which operate nonprofit health centers in communities across the country. The affiliates are separate entities that share the Planned Parenthood name and a common mission.
Services offered through affiliate health centers include contraception, abortion, STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, and breast exams. PPFA's own work centers on public education, advocacy on sexual and reproductive health policy, and sex education programs. PPFA maintains national offices in New York City and Washington, D.C. Separate affiliates, such as Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, operate their own offices and health centers in New York State, including locations in Brooklyn, Hempstead, Poughkeepsie, Schenectady and Ithaca.
