About Public Health Solutions
Public Health Solutions (PHS) is a nonprofit public health organization based in New York City. It was first set up in 1957 as the Medical and Health Research Association of New York City by the city's health department, and it adopted its current name in 2008. The organization describes itself as a public health nonprofit serving New York City's underserved populations, providing direct services to low-income families, funding community-based organizations, and coordinating a city-wide network of social service providers.
Its programs cover food and nutrition, including WIC and SNAP enrollment; health insurance enrollment; maternal and child health; sexual and reproductive health clinics; tobacco control through its NYC Smoke-Free program; and HIV/AIDS. It also provides contracting and management services, giving fiscal and administrative support to grant-funded community organizations. Its headquarters is at 40 Worth Street in Manhattan, and its materials describe services delivered in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx. PHS is a health and social services nonprofit, not a law firm.
