About Robin Hood
Robin Hood is a New York City nonprofit that directs philanthropic funds toward reducing poverty. It is a grantmaking and philanthropy organization, not a law firm or legal services provider. Robin Hood was founded in 1988 by investors who applied investment principles to charitable giving. Its board of directors pays the administrative costs, so donations are directed to grants. The organization works with a network of community partner grantees and has funded more than 300 nonprofit organizations.
Robin Hood's programs and special initiatives address seven issue areas: child care, education, health, housing, hunger, jobs, and tech and AI. It also funds and conducts research, including the Poverty Tracker, which it produces with Columbia University, and it operates a Relief Fund that responds to emergencies in the city. Its headquarters is at 826 Broadway, 9th Floor, New York, NY 10003, and its stated work is focused on New York City.
