About Safe Horizon, Inc.

Safe Horizon is a New York City nonprofit recognized as a 501(c)(3) charity, providing support to people affected by domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking and other crimes. Founded in 1978 as the Victim Services Agency, it was reorganized as Safe Horizon in 2000. Its programs include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelters, counseling, court-based advocacy and crime victim assistance with the New York City Police Department. The organization is not a law firm; its legal work is one part of a broader victim services portfolio.

Legal services include the Domestic Violence Law Project, which assists survivors in family justice proceedings such as orders of protection, custody, support and divorce, and the Immigration Law Project, which helps noncitizen survivors seek humanitarian immigration benefits such as asylum and U visas. The Anti-Trafficking Program also provides legal assistance alongside social services. In New York State, the organization runs programs across the five boroughs of New York City, including community offices in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan, with its administrative headquarters at 2 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
