About Schenectady County District Attorney's Office
The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office is a county prosecutorial agency that brings criminal cases on behalf of the People of New York State in the village, town, city and county courts of Schenectady County. Its responsibilities include presenting felony charges to a grand jury, holding hearings and trials, negotiating pleas, and handling appeals. The office is organized into bureaus covering city and local courts, county court, the grand jury, appeals, financial crimes, major crimes, and special victims matters.
The office also administers grant-funded programs in ten areas, including efforts on domestic violence, gun and gang crime, and crimes against children. It operates a Child Advocacy Center that supports families involved in child abuse and assault cases, and its Homicide Bureau reports assisting in more than 250 homicide investigations. The main location is the Judicial Building at 612 State Street in Schenectady, and a Stop DWI satellite office is located in Princetown.
