About St. John's University School of Law
St. John's University School of Law is the law school of St. John's University, a private Roman Catholic institution in the Vincentian tradition. The school was founded in 1925, has held ABA approval since 1937, and confers Juris Doctor degrees along with LL.M. degrees. Its LL.M. offerings include programs in Real Estate, U.S. Legal Studies, Transnational Legal Practice and Bankruptcy. Students can take part in clinics, externships, law journals, academic centers and advocacy competition teams, and some study abroad at the university's Rome campus.
The school's stated focus includes preparing students for legal careers in New York City, and its alumni network spans all 50 states and several dozen countries. Its New York presence is a single campus at 8000 Utopia Parkway in Queens, in the Jamaica area, roughly a dozen miles from Manhattan. The school is an academic unit of the university and is not a law firm, so it does not provide legal services to the public.
