About SUNY Office of General Counsel

The SUNY Office of General Counsel is the legal office serving the State University of New York system. It gives legal advice and guidance to the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, and employees of SUNY System Administration, as well as to the presidents and employees of SUNY's state-operated campuses. Its stated mission is to protect the university's legal interests under federal and New York law, track legal developments, issue guidance to campus professionals, and provide training on legal compliance.
