About The World Bank Group

The World Bank Group is a family of five international organizations that make leveraged loans to developing countries, and it is described as the largest development bank in the world. It is an intergovernmental body owned by the governments of its member countries, which make its major decisions through a Board of Governors and boards of executive directors. Its stated goals are ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity. The IBRD and IDA are together commonly called the World Bank.

The group finances projects in areas such as education, health, public administration, infrastructure, private sector development, agriculture and environmental management, and it also provides policy advice, research and technical assistance. Its affiliates include the International Finance Corporation, which focuses on the private sector, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, which offers political risk insurance, and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, which provides facilities for conciliation and arbitration of investment disputes. Its headquarters are at 1818 H Street NW in Washington, D.C. The sources consulted did not list any offices in New York State.
