About U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2
EPA Region 2 is one of ten regional offices of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a federal agency. Its jurisdiction extends to New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and eight federally recognized tribal nations. The region's divisions carry out programs under federal statutes including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Superfund law, and they cover air and radiation, water, enforcement and compliance, laboratory services, land and chemicals, and emergency management.
The Office of Regional Counsel represents the region in civil and administrative cases, regulatory and permit actions, government contracts and employment matters, often working with the Justice Department and state environmental agency lawyers. The region's main office is at 290 Broadway in New York City, and it also operates a Hudson River Field Office in Albany, New York.
