The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York is a federal governmental office within the U.S. Department of Justice. It serves as the chief federal law enforcement body for 32 counties in Northern and Central New York, a district of about 3.4 million residents spread over a territory larger than Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts combined.

The office prosecutes federal criminal offenses in the district and represents the United States, its agencies and employees in civil litigation at trial and on appeal. It is organized into Criminal, Civil and Appellate Divisions. The Criminal Division handles matters such as drug trafficking, firearms, fraud, public corruption and terrorism, while the Civil Division defends federal agencies in tort, constitutional and medical malpractice claims, handles bankruptcy matters, and brings False Claims Act and civil rights enforcement actions. The Appellate Division handles criminal and civil appeals. Staffed offices are located in Albany, Binghamton, Plattsburgh and Syracuse, and Albany was redesignated as the primary headquarters location.
