About United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York is a federal prosecution and litigation office under the U.S. Department of Justice. It prosecutes violations of federal law and represents the United States and its agencies in civil and criminal matters before the federal district court and the bankruptcy court, and on appeal before the Second Circuit. The office is led by a United States Attorney and has more than 220 Assistant United States Attorneys, supported by administrative and support staff.

The district covers the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, along with Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Westchester counties. The office is organized into a Criminal Division, a Civil Division, and a White Plains Division that sits within the Criminal Division and handles matters arising mainly in several Hudson Valley counties. Its listed offices are at 26 Federal Plaza and 86 Chambers Street in New York City, and at 50 Main Street in White Plains.
