About Westchester County Attorney's Office
The Westchester County Attorney's Office is the civil law office of Westchester County government. It is part of the County Law Department in White Plains, New York, and is led by County Attorney John M. Nonna. Established in 1937, it operates under a statutory mandate to handle the county's civil legal business and that of its departments. The office is authorized to represent the County and, in some cases, its officers and employees, but it does not take on individuals as clients in general.
The department is organized into four bureaus. The Appeals, Opinions and Legislation Bureau advises elected officials, drafts legislation and argues before state and federal appellate courts. The Contracts and Real Estate Bureau handles contract and property matters for the county. The Family Court Bureau represents the County in child welfare, support and juvenile delinquency cases in the three Family Courts of Westchester County, and the Litigation Bureau represents the County in trials and administrative proceedings. The office is located at the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, 6th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601.
